AI Music, Drake, & AGI

AI Goes Bananas

AI Music & IP

So, anybody that’s been scrolling Instagram the last few days (guilty as charged) has likely run into music videos made by AI.

Think- an incredibly realistic song by Drake and The Weeknd, called “Heart on My Sleave”. You know, the, incredibly, it’s a fantastic song (I could see myself bopping to it pretty often). Nevermind the fact that it was generated by an AI trained on large amounts of lyrical datasets!

Anyway, here’s the link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HZ2ie2ErFI

Which begs the question: what does this mean for the art industry?

You know, it’s pretty early to jump to conclusions of any kind. You see, we’ve got publications like the Washington Post calling it “an insult to the artistry of hip hop”

Whoa- calm down there buddy!

Listen: AI does have the ability to put many creatives out of business, and it can cause ripple effects on the IP that rappers create. This tech is getting unbelievably accurate- almost too much so.

In fact, Drake responded to the song, saying “This is the final straw, AI”. Is it, though? We’ll find out pretty soon, since this stuff evolves literally every hour.

But, you know what? An artist who leverages AI in his or her workflow can massively increase their output.

Same with Copywriters.

Same with Visual artists.

Same with Ghostwriters.

Same with UFC fighters (ok…maybe not quite)

Anyways, AI in its current form greatly multiplies your speed of execution and creative output. But, if you don’t know what you’re doing at all? Then it’s not gonna help you much.

This is an argument some make in the new movement, e/acc. What’s that? E/acc is the effective accelerationist movement, a group of people who emphasize the need to accelerate the path towards AGI (artificial general intelligence, where the AI can basically reason like a human).

The e/acc movement wants to get to this point faster- because humanity will grow out of its problems, like it always does, right? Meanwhile, Elon and Sam Altman, for example, say this can lead to the end of civilization and civilizational collapse.

Ok, this is getting heavy- going from music to civilizational collapse, but that’s how we roll around here!

Onward.

EU Approves AI regulation Bill

Well, the EU just approved the draft of a bill that would regulate AI in a pretty serious way. Some parts of the bill include:

•Dividing AI companies based on their risk profile

•Companies with higher risk will face more compliance and regulation policies

Seems reasonable (the key word being “seems”), but with government antics these days, you just never know. You know?

Hello, Siri?

Now for the million-dollar question…whatever happened to Siri?

You know, the tool we were talking to on our phones to pull stuff up before AI became cool and mainstream?

Yea.

Well, looks like Apple’s falling behind in the AI race- Siri engineers are doing LLM upgrades, but they are way behind, and plan these upgrades in 2024…

You know, Siri still misinterprets half the stuff I say. So, let’s start with that? Tim, your call.

Anyways, here’s some cool new AI tools for y’all.

Play around with them and enjoy!

Finally, not to make you guys too hungry, but here’s an AI generated pizza commercial: https://www.pepperonihugspot.pizza/

That’s it for now, peace.
