Powered by Ice, Lebron Breaks NBA Record

Cryo's Coming in Hot

Lebron James just broke the all-time NBA scoring record. Funny enough, as a working LA resident, as I saw the number closing in, I immediately booked an Uber.

Plugged in the coordinates: “Crypto Arena,” and sprinted into Tom’s Watch Bar. But, he’d already broken the record at that point. Lesson learned. Hey, at least the post-game energy was decent.

Anyways, lets “plunge” into one of Lebron’s key recovery routines.

Lebron uses what is called “Whole Body Cryotherapy” to speed up injury recovery, relieve soreness, reduce inflammation, and improve range of motion.

Talk about a magic pill.

Now, before you go to ChatGPT (sorry Google) and find cryotherapy places near you, let’s dive in and understand the benefits and opportunities in the space.

You’ve probably booked a session already.

Whatever. Anyways, let’s dive into cryotherapy, and the cold plunge.

If you’ve been anywhere near Instagram, Youtube, or TikTok the last few years, you’ve probably run into people talking about cold exposure. From Joe Rogan, to Wim Hof to a bunch of biohacking experts.

But, what’s the verdict on cold plunges actually? Is it worth buying one?

And, more importantly, for all you schemin' Zenpreneurs,  what business opportunities exist in the space? We’re talking about one’s that you can literally start in days.

Alright, let’s dive in.

The immediate science of the cold plunge is pretty intriguing. Remember when you had a swollen toe or twisted your ankle when you were little? And the doctor recommended using an ice pack?

Well, the ice causes your blood vessels to constrict, restricting blood flow, swelling, and inflammation to the area. Cool. Science 101- cold packs edition.

And, cryotherapy is basically the use of extreme cold to get rid of abnormal tissue.

Here are some of the insane benefits of cryotherapy (backed by scientists):

  • Lowers inflammation

  • Lowers risk of dementia

  • Improvement in weight loss

  • Increases testosterone

  • Reduces oxidative stress

Awesome, it's basically really good for you.

Which means, new businesses have been riding the cold wave and gaining traction fast.

One in particular, The Cold Plunge, has been killing it.

To grow, the founders showed immense personal touch, highlighting that it’s self-made.

In honor of Valentine’s day weekend, I’ll use poetic language to describe the story of the cold plunge:

"Once upon a time, in a land of aches and pains, a brilliant entrepreneur had an idea - to bring the power of cold to the masses and help people feel better. And so, the Cold Plunge was born!

But, how could they get people to brave the chill and give this new wellness treatment a try? Well, our protagonist didn't just sit around and shiver in their boots, oh no! They put on their thinking cap and came up with a plan.

First, they scoured the land for brave souls who were willing to try out the Cold Plunge and spread the word. And what do you know, it didn't take long for these cryotherapy converts to start singing the praises of the chill. "It's invigorating!" they'd exclaim, "I feel like a new person!"

Next, they teamed up with gyms and spas, offering to bring the Cold Plunge to their locations. This way, people could enjoy a workout, a massage, and a nice, cold plunge all in one place! And the people cheered, "Finally, a one-stop-shop for wellness!"

But the Cold Plunge wasn't content to rest on their laurels, oh no! They invested in research and development, creating new and exciting ways to provide the ultimate cold experience. And the people were amazed, "Wow, this is even better than the first time!" "

The Cold Plunge hit over seven figures in revenue and even secured investment on Shark Tank. Talk about momentum.

Another startup, Renu therapy, is carrying out the same business model as the cold plunge and is crushing it with Youtube content.

Which begs the question: What opportunities exist in the space?

Well, here are a few ideas you can run with (even without a large budget):

  1. Buy a cold plunge, and make it available to fitness enthusiasts for an hourly rate

  2. If you’re a bio, chem, or premed student, consider making content on this topic. There are many people who want to understand the benefits of cold exposure. Think blogs, youtube shorts, and TikToks

  3. If you can code, you can make a community- app for fitness & cold therapy enthusiasts. By the way, you can also try making this with no-code tools

  4. Create AI-powered games between friends, who can compete on fitness and cold plunge streaks (the venture capitalists are gonna get feisty with this one)

  5. Skilled with Photography? Collaborate with Cryo brands and Capture high quality photos of Athletes using their products. You get to network with athletes and brands. Win-Win.

Well, lads, that’s the Zenpreneur edition for today. Remember, try out the plunge like Bron, and maybe even build something cool in the space.
