Drugs, NSA, Trump, & Dubai

1/ AI in Drug Design

Drug design traditionally can take years and cost billions of dollars- a process which can be sped up and done more cost effectively with AI.

Basically, AI can speed up this process by accelerating the identification of promising compounds, quickly pinpointing lead compounds, accelerating drug targets, and optimizing drug structure designs.

The AI/Drug combination is in its early phases, and will only expand quickly from here.

2/ NSA joining OpenAI?

Well, not literally. But, former NSA and retired army general Paul Nasakone has joined the board of directors at OpenAI.

OpenAI says this is for safety & security, but a former NSA guy? Having access to everyone’s AI logs and historical AI chats?

Let’s just say, many feel that this may not be the best move

Snowden and many others are expressing a similar sentiment.

NSA + OpenAI + iPhone data?

The OpenAI plot just thickens.

3/ Trump on AI

On a recent podcast with Logan Paul, Trump spoke on AI and deemed it powerful, but alarming.

Key points:

  • We have to take the lead over China in AI

  • Speech writers are in trouble- Trump even used AI to rewrite his speech

  • Raised 12 Million from AI entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley

4/ Dubai- an AI Metropolis?

The government in Dubai has pledged to train a million people on AI prompting. This will be a part of its ‘One Million AI Prompters’ program, which has a goal of training the next generation of AI prompt engineers and developers.

The Chairman of trustees states “We want to be the most future-ready city and continue to prepare for the AI era”- not a bad goal given that 40% of GDP will be generated by AI in 10 years.
