Gemini, AI, & Crypto

AI in December 2023. What do we have?

For starters, the AI boom is just getting started.

Hard to believe?

Well, think of AI like the internet in the late 1990’s. Many “.com” companies sprouted up during that time…

Only for there to be a massive crash in the dot com bust.

But…many gems rose from it too. Some of those gems…we use today.

And speaking of gems, Google just dropped Gemini, it’s AI model.

By the looks of the parameter tests, it seems that Gemini-4 is up there, and slightly edges GPT-4 in some areas, and is the first model to outperform humans with the MMLU benchmark.

Wild to think:

But there’s a catch.

Google seems to have misled people with the bench marks

What probably happened is that Google's PR team wanted to make Gemini appear to crush GPT-4.  In reality, it will probably be comparable or slightly better…when shipped in a couple months….

Anyways, history rhymes, and the .ai boom gives off similar vibes.

And this is exponential technology we are talking of. Not even a step function improvement. But exponential- new paradigms….the ways we will use this stuff in 3 years will be totally different.

Unfathomably different.

Now, the key is…straddling the line between current profitability and future disruption- there may not be a market yet for VR enabled open world AI gaming, and that’s to be expected.

AI + Crypto

Knowing how AI will play a role in adjacent industries will be key

One such market…financial technology, or fin-tech.

Many are making finance copilots- but generative AI and the ML algorithms that underpin it can be used in many interesting ways.

Given blockchain can help verify identity in a trust-less manner, the potential one can have when combining this with AI systems is profound. One can provide audit trails, data traceability, decision-making copilots and a bunch more.

Wild world we’re headed to.

Here are some interesting ideas to build at the intersection of the two fields:

  • Decentralized AI content marketplace, powered by smart contracts

  • AI investment advisor (specifically for crypto)

  • AI assistant for smart contract development and deployment

  • AI powered verification tools on chain

Ritual, a startup that just raised $25 mil, is working on using AI to manage risk parameters in real time market conditions.

Interesting that they are going the route of the AI coprocessor.

Anyways, with Christmas coming up soon, great time to build up that momentum. Peace.
