Google, Drones, & Crypto

1/ Google’s follow up?

So after the OpenAI event occurred, the Google Gemini AI event followed.

And, well we’ve got a bit of contrast between the two events.

One was more poised, professional, and shipped product. The other ....well, it was more gimmicky and promised  shipping of various things later in the year.

On the other hand, Google is integrating AI into its suite of products- workspace, search, etc. All powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro.

Google unveiled Veo- which is a competitor to OpenAI’s Sora, and can generate long form, 1080p videos from text prompts. The catch?

It’s not out yet, and there is a waitlist. (A recurring theme with Google these days).

2/  AI in Drone Flight

Researchers have just developed a drone that flies autonomously using neuromorphic image processing.

What is that? It is basically a process mimicking the animal brain, which improves data processing speed significantly compared to traditional GPUs- 64x faster.

This is a huge advancement, and real world applications such as crop monitoring, security, warehouse management, etc will definitely benefit.

3/ Crypto + AI?

Erik Voorhees, an OG Bitcoin proponent and technologist, states that crypto would be the currency of AI agents.

This seems to be the precise direction things are headed in. He states “An AI agent can’t go set up a bank account. An AI can only use digitally native rails for payments, and that means it has to be cryptocurrencies”

Yep, digitally native intelligence will transact in a digitally native currency, which is crypto.
