Laws, Elon, & Music

Imagine we're back in the early '90s of the internet or the mid-2000s when the cloud was just emerging. That's where we stand today with AI technology—an exhilarating frontier of infinite possibilities and challenges.

And lawmakers also feel that they need to do something to regulate AI, but such disjointed action often leads to a mess.

1/ Messy laws on AI

Different states in the US are beginning to implement different regulations on AI.

The result?

Developers and entrepreneurs are getting confused. Utah, for instance, is considering legislation that would require a company to disclose if their products interact with consumers without using a human.

For a tech startup- this would mean that if you’re doing business in Utah, you would need to disclose if products interact with consumers without using a human, while you wouldn’t have to in neighboring states.

This patchy landscape is turning into a complex puzzle for developers and entrepreneurs, who must navigate these varying regulations. Could "AI loopholes" become the new "tax loopholes"?

2/ Elon says superhuman AI could exist next year

AGI coming next year? Seems faster than what others expect the timeline of AGI to be, but it’s interesting to consider.

One of Elon’s quests is to save humanity, and humanity being concerned about AGI is definitely a widespread mission of his.

This is what drove him to invest in OpenAI back in the day, and even start open sourcing xAI.

The caveat?

Chip shortages are everywhere- all AI-powered infrastructure companies are feeling the pinch.

3/ Intel vs Nvidia?

Intel just released its Gaudi 3 AI chip

The sell?

They say it's 50% faster for generative AI training than Nvidia’s H100.

Now that’s a bold claim.

Turns out, AI model wars (GPT vs Claude) were just the tip of the iceberg- gear up for some chip battles this year.

4/ Udio is Sora for Music

We’ve now got, AI generated music tools.

Remember Open AI’s Sora? Well, Udio’s trying to capture that magic in the music making world

An artist who consulted in the development of the product says “with Udio you are able to pull songs into existence via AI and your imagination”

Interesting times ahead.

Peace out.
