LLM Workflows & Medicine

Lights, candles, AI…

Where are we really headed the world of AI, startups, and the future of large language models?

For one, 2023 was one of the most consequential years in technology history.

Much like the late 90’s, things will only speed up from here. Buckle your seatbelts for 2024….

It’s gonna be the year where demos translate to large use cases

2023 AI felt very flashy, because LLMs were so new, many were in awe of its power.

Lets dive into the latest developments

1/You can now use Anthropic’s Claude in Google Sheets. At this point, all analyst roles should have ‘AI tools proficiency’ as one of the requisites in the job description…

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. You see, it’s amazing that so many software workflows are getting automated with generative AI

Even applying AI to virtual worlds will only proliferate next year with the release of the Apple Quest.

2/ Cursor- the IDE built specifically with AI workflows in mind

Some of its key features include:

Editing in natural language and generating code from scratch massively accelerate the workflows of an engineer.

Many people want to learn to code. And many others feel that it’s above their bandwidth.

Cursor, is just a different breed. A breed that seems to be getting the job done…

The thing is, with AI, the learning curve can be dramatically reduced, which is incredible for anybody that wants to dedicate time to learning.

Obviously engineers are getting 10x productivity gains with  AI. And now, more people than ever can use AI to gain proficiency at code to some level.

Simply look at this trend line for the google search term “coding with ai”

Massive acceleration, and it’s only getting started

3/ Google rolling  out Medical LLMs

After the Gemini parameter fiasco last week….

Definitely welcome to new things from Google :)

Anyways, Google is putting out MedLM, a family of foundation models fine-tuned specifically for healthcare.

Really cool use cases here- the AI has been trained on pre-clinical research and is available for users on the Vertex AI GCP platform.

Have a great weekend.
