1/ OpenAI Goes BIG with New model

A rundown OpenAI ‘s reveal:

-ChatGPT desktop app launched

-New model! (GPT-4o, which provides a GPT-4 level experience for everyone. It is faster than GPT-4 with improvements in text, vision, and audio

-GPT-4o has improved quality & speed in 50 languages

-The big one? It is 2x faster than GPT-4-turbo, and 50% cheaper. This is basically a godsend for developers building on their APIs.

2/ More GPT-4o: Conversational Prowess:

In a demo from OpenAI, GPT-4o had a very human-like voice and tonality, even allowing for interruptions from the speaker when speaking. This is key- being able to effectively interrupt the model output mimics real world conversational flow.

This human-like voice interface will completely change the way conversations are held and carried in the future- many thought Siri could do this, but they did not deliver.

3/ GPT-4o - A real time translator?

In the demo, GPT-4o acted as the translation concierge, converting Italian to english and vice versa. The one thing here is- live translation roles could obviously be in peril. But, the step function in progress this technology provides is remarkable.

Conclusion: OpenAI is ahead of the game, and shows no signs of slowing down
