Sora 2 Surprise, AI Consulting, & Design
1/ OpenAI Launches Sora 2 — and the Memes Take Over

OpenAI just launched Sora 2, and the internet is responding the way it always does: with a flood of Sam Altman memes. But beneath the jokes, this is serious—Sora 2 is poised to redefine video generation. It’s also no coincidence that OpenAI is aligning itself closely with Hollywood. AI-native video could easily be the backbone of entertainment in the next decade.
It’s an awesome AI model- and to think that this is the worst AI video will ever be (unless they nerf it with excessive guardrails, which they seem to be doing).
2/ Canada isn’t doing too hot in AI
If you’re wondering why Canada isn’t a world leader in AI…
@DalhousieU is hiring a tenured professor of Artificial Intelligence, but only disabled women can apply
'This position is designated to candidates who self-identify as gender equity-seeking persons with a disability.'

Despite being one of the earliest leaders in academic AI, Canada seems to be losing steam. Some argue that woke politics and regulatory overreach are part of the drag, and with situations like this- it seems to be the case.
3/ Mass Consulting Layoffs Due to AI
🚨 BREAKING: Accenture cuts 11,000 jobs as AI takes over consulting
Accenture says it can’t retrain everyone fast enough for the new AI-driven skills consulting now demands.
CEO Julie Sweet said employees whose jobs can’t be matched with new AI skills will be let go quickly.

White collar consulting jobs are getting hit hard by AI. The very industry that built its reputation on “strategic advice” is finding itself disrupted by tools that deliver faster insights at a fraction of the cost. This wave of layoffs is a sign that the traditional consulting model might not survive the decade without serious reinvention.
4/ Creative Design Roles Rising in the Age of AI
Figma CEO @zoink says we're seeing Jevons Paradox applied to creative work.
As AI makes execution cheaper and faster, the demand for truly great, novel design doesn't shrink; it explodes.
And he says "It's leading to a talent war for top designers."

It’s not all doom and gloom; creative roles, especially in design, are becoming more valuable. As AI takes over execution, the human taste-making layer matters more than ever. The ability to steer aesthetics, branding, and storytelling in a world flooded with generative outputs is becoming a premium skill.
