Threads, Code, & the Battle for AI

We’re going to thread up a newsletter edition today.

Get it? Because…. Threads? Nevermind.

Zuck did just launch a new social app called Threads, and within 3 days, it is approaching 100 million users. Simply unprecedented growth for an app that’s just launched.

And he did take to threads to celebrate

Now, a large portion of that number are people that have been ported over from their Instagram account.

Nonetheless, the point remains. Crazy growth. And you know what?

This seems to be the real brawl between Musk and Zuckerberg. You see, these two tech titans are going to go at it in the Colosseum.

And before they do, they’re gonna fight it out for social media supremacy. Twitter vs Threads. Bird vs A spool of yarn? Or whatever that logo is...

Anyway, it’s going to be quite the show we’re gearing up for. Get your popcorn ready.

Anyways….AI?

Ah, yes.

A few key developments in that department.

AI Highlights:

  1. AI Synthetic data companies are going to the moon. As we all know, some information is really hard to access. This is where synthetic data comes into the picture. It allows one to train models on data in an inexpensive manner. An example of a company using this data for computer vision is Synthesis AI. It’s only the start, and such data will power so many startups looking to train models cheaply. Win-win

  2. ChatGPT code interpreter- you ever have to download a bunch of stuff to run code on your laptop? Welp, now you got all that….within ChatGPT- game-changing stuff…and if you’re an ADHD type like me, you can close a few of your tabs

What’s even crazier? Some are calling this a step function more impressive than GPT-4

Wild. Some are even claiming it can write full-fledged ML pipelines. This tech is accelerating faster and faster by the day. The result? You’ve got to keep up.

  1. Wanna bop? Welp, this tool can help you customize and curate your Spotify playlists with AI (https://www.playlistai.app/). Enjoy!

  2. Your Investment Copilot- a startup called Alpha (https://public.com/alpha) —- It uses GPT-4 in an effort to help you make better investing decisions

Anyways, that's all for this edition.

Till next time.
