Walking and the Brain

Walk to prevent Alzheimers

Walking & The Brain

Welcome to the ZenPreneur newsletter, the newsletter that optimizes your entrepreneurial brain every. Frickin. Day.

Grab a coffee, bring your wife and kids, grab a seat, and chill out. This is an important one.

You’ve probably heard of the importance of walking everyday. Companies in the corporate world have clung onto their 10k-step challenges. The question is, why so specific?

Well, it turns out, this specificity is key.

Studies by the University of Kansas medical center have shown that people unlock a massive decrease in their risk of dementia north of 9800 steps- now the 10k challenges make a ton of sense.

In fact, it’s been shown that 9800 steps is the threshold at which your risk of dementia is HALF that of someone whose done 3k or less. Not bad.

Not only that…

A Doctor by the name of Rabin (cool name bro) has stated that walking 10k steps per day has been shown to significantly increase memory, lowers your risk of 13 types of cancer, lowers risk of dementia and heart disease, and ups your cerebral blood flow as well as endorphins- this is literally the closest thing to a sustainable “magic pill”!

Personally, I’ve lost 50 pounds in a year adhering to the 10k step habit- to make this really stick, you’ve got to ingrain it as part of your identity, part of who you are.

For those saying, “10k steps is too muchh”, its literally 5 miles bro. Put on some David Goggins, and walk after meals- getting there is easier than you think.

Also, use a step counting app on your phone, we carry those around at all times anyways!

If you’re in corporate, try to convince your coworkers to do walking meetings, it’ll pay off in the end.

And now, we’ve got our BIG BRAIN Startup of the Day:

Stepn-> a web3 app that pays you to walk. Similar to gaming, the app has rewards and points for those who hit certain walking thresholds. Sound

Essentially, you buy a digital sneaker, and earn tokens for walking or running. Sound promising? Well they have raised a $5 million seed round and seem to have a good mission, so we’ll keep up with them.

Anyways, keep that brain firing and those feet moving. Peace out for today.
