War, AI, and Shopping

We are nearing the end of January, and the 2024 AI wave is just getting started.

Now, many are talking about Perplexity AI, the supposed killer of Google.

Perplexity gets around 50 million visits a month- quite high, but currently far less than google.

But its still a super interesting product.

Under the hood, it pulls in search queries from google using the Serper API, and provides a ChatGPT-like experience…think of it like a combination between the two.

Now, onto business.

1/Israel creates AI platform to monitor Gaza’s humanitarian situation

Quite Interesting- as AI advances, expect more nations and nation states to not only adopt the technology, but build their own use cases for it.

Anduril showed what was possible in government technology- if corruption doesn’t supersede technological progress in a nations government, they will likely begin building their own AI platforms.

And more-so, this is also an opportunity for entrepreneurs to build government technology.

2/Etsy has launched a feature called “Gift mode”, which gives the user gift ideas based on specific preferences.

An AI Shopping quiz, basically.

3/ AI- designed drug set to alleviate bowel disease to enter trials- Now, we’ve got something a bit more impact than Etsy quizzes.

Not that quizzes aren’t impactful….

Anyways, this indicates the absolutely rapid pace with which AI is accelerating. And more so, this indicates the standard- AI will eventually be able to translate’s someone’s entire genome into actionable insights and actually diagnose them.

And LLM use cases are currently only scratching the surface.

Happy Sunday, and peace out
